For studying purposes he served in the German army for 18 months as commander
of an artillery battery in Berlin and Stettin. He was commander of the
operative section with army headquarters during
the Balkan War of 1913. He was a commander of a Division; by the victory
of Zletovska Rjeka and the capture of Drenak he decided the war in favour
of Serbia.
